Change the named servers on the domain registration to those of your new host.

Appologies for bad language but WTF ...........this from 1and1 help:

UK domains (.co.uk, .org.uk, etc.) cannot be locked or unlocked as UK domains utilise IPS Tags to control domain transfers.

So this means I have to keep my domain with 1and1 for the rest of my life ?
        Isnt that illegal ?

Thanks for the help guys, I know how to update nameservers, just got confused when I couldn't find unlock / transfer in cpanel, but now we all know why !

        Im well angry about this.
        Kind regards,

        Michael

not all domains work the same way

.com (for example) need to be unlocked and a transfer key generated to be able to transfer
.co.uk (for example) need to have the IPS tag changed to that of the new registrar

Any registrar must comply and allow you to transfer away, they can charge an admin fee (I think) and they can require a minimum term in some cases.

But my new registra requires the domain to be unlocked first, they have told me and they want an epp code which is not mentioned in 1and1 cpanel.

Going to email 1and1 now, not expecting a clear response.
                Kind regards,

                  From your 1and1 control panel:

                  - Go to the Domain Centre
                  - Click Help (top right)
                  - Select 'Domain Transfers'

It tells you exactly how to do it. Sounds pretty simple to me.

                  Mike

Click Domain Settings > Edit Basic Settings.
                  Domain Settings

Click Disable under Basic Settings > Domain transfer lock.
                  Unlock Button

                  Click Yes.
All domain transfer requests will be granted automatically.

                    Thanks,

That options not there for me. Are you doing it for a .co.uk domain, the rules are different.
Ive just pointed the nameservers to new host and my site is down.
                    Kind regards,

                      Hi,

I'm not doing it for any domains as I hold all my domains separately from my hosting (which you'd be well advised to do as well as it makes switching web hosts a piece of cake). 123-reg are good.

The help file seems to be fairly clear though (although as you say it doesn't explicitly mention .co.uk domains so it may be a diffrent.)

I transferred my .co.uk domain away from 1&1 and don't remember having any trouble. Can't remember how I did it but I probably started here http://help.1and1.co.uk/domains-c409...1-a728151.html

                          Thanks for that,

Been reading it all day and have been too nervous to try it but will now that I have the IPS tag.

                          Thanks

                            http://help.1and1.co.uk/domains-c409...1-a728151.html

Terrified im going to lose my domain now.
                            Kind regards,

1and 1 have just sent me this email:

                              Pos. Description Action Date Status
                              ===========================================================================
                              1 stageprint.co.uk CANCEL 04 September 2014 CONFIRMED
                              2 ticketprint.co.uk CANCEL 04 September 2014 CONFIRMED

Great, I did not select cancel for stageprint, I selected transfer and entered my new servers IPS tag.

Am I going to lose my domain ?

Just emailed them, will let you know what they say.

Hope everyone has a good day.
