I meant the last stage of network settings wizard where you put in an email address. It wont accept my new one or any one for that matter.
But that's the least worry for now, ive pointed dns with 1and1 correctly and its now working because it just shows a bit of my directory at my new server. Ive also done the IPS tag confirmation at 1and1 and it said this will be done on the date shown but there was no date shown so im left worrying about when it will be done.
Then thers the sd network wizard, I cant get past the first screen.
Im putting in www.stageprint.co.uk followed by username and password but I have a feeling it needs to be something like this:
/home/stagepri/public_html/
But sd will only allow a normal address without forward slashes.
Could it be failing because the new server is https secure ?
Michael
edit: this is the error I get from sd:
The wizard is unable to establish an ftp connection with www.stageprint.co.uk for unknown reasons
The specific error is : the ftp session was terminated
You've switched to a new host and need network settings that match that host. It will help if you tell us who the new hosts are and what type of hosting (e.g. Linux) it is.
Then you can hope for someone with a SellerDeck site on this host to post suitable settings.
Also, if you're falling at the FTP phase, there could be several reasons. Your domain name may not be fully transferred over to the new host - they may do FTP in a different way to 1&1 - etc. One way to clarify this would be to take SD out of the loop by using a standalone FTP client (FileZilla - https://filezilla-project.org/) is one I use. And see if you can make an FTP connection with that. If you can't, get info from your new hosts on how to fix it.
Im with a u.s. company called a small orange, they are no longer small though.
They have given me excellent support, hosting and prices over the years. And I once had actinic running perfectly with them, but foolishly switched to 1and1 to save a few pounds.
Im on there standard business package which is Linux based.
Great idea about using another ftp client. Will try that now.
Several days ago I clicked the 'call me' link on sd hosting page, they never called me.
I was prepared to give them my money for hosting. Do they want the business or not ?
Why not just call them on the phone. If you need hosting that will definitely support SellerDeck and is fully tested foir the product then that is a good route. They will supply you with network settings too if you ask.
Unfortunately im stuck with aso for a while, the ips tag transfer has worked but I cannot point to sd nameservers yet.
My plan is to try and get my domain back with freeparking.co.uk been using them for years and years and then point to new dns on a server that actually works.
At the mo my web is down and all my google links dead.
SellerDeck uses FTP, has done for over 15 years. There are several ways of conducting a FTP session securely but these are not as yet supported by SellerDeck.
Most ISPs still do not support any secure FTP options and those that do may not always support all of the secure options.
For SellerDeck to support secure FTP connections we would need to negotiate with the server to determine which if any methods are supported by both the client and server.
This is something we are aware of and may well do in the future but to date we have had very few requests to do so, only 6 (including the two here) in the past 10 years.
Your interest in this has been noted against our internal wish list for consideration in a future release of SellerDeck.

Well that's just great isn't it. Surely sftp is going to become more and more insisted upon due to the increase in web attacks which continue to get worse by the day.
