Different Out Of Stock Message for different products

Hi there, I have had a quick search but can see a relevant posting.

We are using stock control on SD13, selling plug plants through out the year. Once an item has run out of stock or gone past it's delivery, I set the stock to zero, then standard message comes up.

This year I changed the standard message to "SOLD OUT FOR THIS DELIVERY PERIOD - MAY BE AVAILABLE AT ANOTHER TIME", however, it would be useful to select suitable out of stock message, product in March delivery may say 'Sold out in March try June plantings' so you can push them to alternative.

I was thinking you could custom variables to hold the messages, with another to say use standard or custom, would be good to set it at section level as well as at the product level.

Am I on the right track?

    Thanks M

No need for a that. Use a BlockIf that displays the standard message if the custom message is empty.

See Hiding Things With Conditions in the Starter Guide for a tutorial.

Thanks for both your replies, I have tested it out and it works, not yet on the live site.

Torn between free flow text and messages from a list, both have advantages especially when fat fingers and small keys play their part.

I haven't yet got the block to work properly but I am reading through the Block Tutorial 1: Everything you wanted to know about blocks (but were afraid to ask) and seen the advance guide.

      Thanks again.
