    Component Discounting

I am trying to get my head around a solution for the following scenario :

A product is available with free personalisation. A drop down component is shown against the product with 2 options:

    new artwork +£25 OR
    use existing artwork FREE

Essentially a set up fee for the artwork which once done can be used again for repeat customers free of charge. All good.

The site wants to promote the option to be able to remove the £25.00 new artwork fee if the cart total is £50 or over. As far as I can determine a cart level discount would apply to any order with either option selected and not just the new artwork option selected.

Is there a way to sneak around the trees and come at this from a different angle? Maybe with the component permutation being assigned to a hidden product and that hidden products added to a product group with a discount

I am either over thinking things (probably) or it is not possible (likely) ... and ideas greatly received.

Is this not just a free 'product' (100% discount on the 'new artwork' product) when the cart exceeds £50?

I could be wrong as I don't use these much but it should be fairly simple.

The free product discount only applies when the product is added to the cart - as the cost of the embroidery is £25.00 there is no obvious way to say :

if cart value is over £50.00 AND cart includes embroidery product then deduct £25.00

The cost of the embroidery product will never be more than £25.00 to be able to discount it back out again once the cart value hits £50.00

      So .....

      Product 1 = £10.00
      Hidden Embroidery Product = £25.00

Total = £35.00 ... no discount as cart is not £50.00

      add another product to upsell

      Product 2 = £100.00
      No Embroidery

Total = £135.00 ... now deduct the £25.00 as cart is over £50 and the embroidery product is also in the cart

Sorry, I can't be much help here as I don't use the discounting feature.

there is no obvious way to say :

if cart value is over £50.00 AND cart includes embroidery product then deduct £25.00
As I say, I wouldn't do this by discounting £25 but would try to make the new design 'product' free on all orders over £50. If you describe it as 'This order qualifies for a free design on embroidery orders' then you'll probably even get some embroidery orders from people who weren't planning to buy embroidery just because of the 'free design'.

I could be talking total rubbish on this as maybe sellerdeck can't do this but I'd be surprised if it can't.

Unfortunately it needs to be run from the product page upwards as it is an integral part of a standard order and discounted back .... rather than as an additional free item once they hit the cart target.

I don't think it is currently possible so mooting the concept to offer out a unique coupon code to anyone who spends more than the target and giving a discount off their second purchase. This will encourage repeat custom and build customer loyalty at the same time. The existing concept only really applies to first time buyers.

I have got it to work in a loose sort of away, just limitation, how many products are you talking and quantities of orders.

              As you described:
Product 1 £10 plus £25 design cost using a hidden product.

Then I have a Product group containing all the products and set up a discount of £25 on a trigger £50.

If then a person bought a second product for £100, basket would be worth £135 so triggering the discount £25 to remove the design cost so it will be actually £110.

              If a second item of product 1 is ordered, that would £10 x 2 + £25 x 2 =£70, greater than £50 so less £25 would give £45.

However, you are charging the design cost twice so on the hidden product pricing you need to change the price to £12.50 for 2, £8.32 for 3 items etc.

Sellerdeck only allows to 2 decimal places so the hidden product price will work well for some quantities, many you will have to round down.

For it to work you will need all the products in the product group which means that you won't be able to run any other offers for those products so it is messy.

I did wonder if you could use a surcharge or handling fees to add it and remove it but could see how that would work.

                Cheers Mash for the input.

What happens if they buy 2 x Product 2 at £100 = £200 but without the design added as an option. As product 2 is in the discount group that would automatically trigger the discount.

There needs to be the test of "does Product 2 have the hidden product option selected AND is cart value over £50"

I can't see away to perform this 2 stage test on the cart value and the cart contents to trigger the discount only if both conditions are true.

I know, you could set the discount only once which would work to a fashion.

Could you use a discount code, somehow do cart value once reaching the trigger value, a discount code appears for the person to get free design work which they input the code.

It may be a case that a human has to choose the correct option.

Umm there must be away. Sorry I can see it at the mo.
