    New Computer

I am getting a new computer, on which I will need to install SD 12.0.5, which I am currently using on my old computer.

I would be grateful for any advice on the best order of doing things. Do I copy the Sellerdeck program directory and the Sites directory to the new computer before downloading the program again from Sellerdeck, then import snapshot? The program directory contains the snapshots.

The snapshots are independent to the site files so you can copy at any time. I would

    1. install SellerDeck on the new PC - download the latest version from the SD website
    2. transfer the latest snapshot from old PC to new PC
    3. import the snapshot into the new PC SellerDeck .. File > Snapshot > Import Site
    4. ZIP archive the site1 folder on your old PC and stash somewhere out of the way on the new PC
    5. on the old PC disable upload / download of SD so you don't use it accidentally.

If you have a full copy of the old site1 folder and files that will allow you access to any old files that are not in the snapshot but you may need again at some point and always good for peace of mind.

You need to install everything afresh - do not copy the old program files over as this will cause a world of pain and will not work correctly. Just keep a ZIP copy of the site1 files "just in case"

If you have any reports modified (orders.rpt, DataEntry.rpt and Invoices.rpt - eg. logo added),
you will need to copy them over from the old system - this can be done last, when the site is imported etc.

These files are not in the sites folder but are found in the old computer's installation folder :
      "Program Files/SellerDeck 2013" or "Program Files (x86)/SellerDeck 2013"

I would first rename the originals on the new PC (eg. orders.orig_v1205.rpt), and copy the others over from the old PC - any problems, just revert to the originals.

        Thanks.

Thank you both. So it seems I don't need to do anything before downloading the program afresh, but will then need to copy the backups folder from the old program files (the snapshots) to the new program files, and make a copy of the Sites folder to keep safe somewhere on the new pc just in case. I will also need to copy the Images from the Sites folder to the new Sites folder, I believe.

The snapshot contains the images so will be imported when you import the snapshot into SellerDeck. No need to copy images.

The snapshot ACD file is just a glorified ZIP file of the Site1 folder and contains all you need (assuming you have not modified any reports which the vast majority of people don't)
