Filtering not working when #Sid is in url

I have a page which has filtering turned on, see Filtered Page

The filtering works fine, until #SID=(a number) is added to the url. As soon as #SID is present, there is no filtering.

To see this hover over "Jewellery by Brand" and click on Giorgio Martello in the bottom right of the menu.

The url will now have #SID but no filtering.

Remove #SID from the url and filtering is back.

Any ideas what is going on here?

    Many thanks

    Jason

Doesn't happen here. Try a different PC or browser. It's possible that your system has cached an URL you were tinkering with. I recall you'd posted earlier about removing stuff.

The #SID anchor is mainly applied to product pages for parent section links and Perl scripts see here.

I noticed problems with filtering and anchor tags. SellerDeck raised bugs: "SD-2577 - Navigation to filter page with anchor means no filtering counts calculated", "SD-1237 - (Internal reference) Anchor-based navigation for Filtering", "SD-2607". SellerDeck said "This is sort of Working As Designed. If there is a link to a section page, with anchor, it is assumed that the link is being made from a script (or similar) to show a product where there is no single product page (SPP). A test is made at the start of filtering in actinicsearch.js, function OnFilter, and no filtering is done if there is an anchor (window.location.hash is not empty). If filtering was run, it would replace the default content of the page with filter results which means that the product would be lost. Therefore the easiest workaround is to ensure that single product pages are enabled for all products, or that filtering is turned off for sections that actually have products on them." You can contact SellerDeck to report it and get a workaround.

        Norman,

I do get the problem on different computers, it does seem intermittent, however when a computer has the problem then it does continue on that computer so I do also think there is an element of storage in the cache.

        Louise,

Many thanks for the explanation, although I think I will have to read it a few times to fully understand.

I will play about and see if I can replicate using your description of the causes.

Many thanks for you both for taking the time to have a look and reply.
