    Order Processing Tab crashes SD

This will test your boredom threshold. We use the Shipping & Handling tab of an order to see the estimated weight of the parcel, and book it with the carrier based on this before the goods are packed, and it can determine which carrier is used.

Whenever we do a SD upgrade or re-install, the column width for the weight is not wide enough to see more than the first 2 digits, insufficient for our needs. As we are exporting orders into Sage, the column cannot be widened without temporarily changing the setting in the Order Processing tab of Settings: Business Settings, to allow processing on SD, which allows us to widen the column, and then change back the setting in the Order Processing tab. We only have to do it once as then it stays that width until the next upgrade.

Yesterday we re-installed SD 2013 on a brand new computer, everything seems to be fine, orders coming in etc. However, when we click on the Order Processing tab we get a continuous rotating circle, SD unresponsive, have to crash. Tried several times.

Cannot contact Support as it is Saturday, but need to process orders before Monday morning. Any ideas as to the problem? Anybody encounted it? Have so far tried 3 re-installs from SD site.

No specific ideas on what could be causing this but I'd try the usual things:

    - compact the database
    - Check the shipping tables are correct
    - check any shipping add ons / extensions are working properly

from past experience I know sellerdeck doesn't like handling orders that have a shipping service that no longer exists. This is usually ok until the order is opened so it might not be this but my gut feeling would be shipping extensions if you're using them.

      Can't click Housekeeping either

Thanks for replying, Mike. Taking your advice, I clicked the Housekeeping tab to select compact databases, but causes SD to lock up (continuous rotating circle) and I have to crash it. Tried several times. So the same problem with that tab as with the Order Processing tab in Settings. All the other tabs in Business Settings work OK.

Also, when opening SD into my main Site1, it locks up, says 100% complete, but green line stops half way across and SD locks up. However, if I select a different site (multi-site), it opens fine, and I then activate the Site1 and it loads OK, but still with those two tabs not working (may be others I haven't found yet).

        The plot thickens

I managed to get the weight column in the Orders: Shipping tab widened, by activating another site, where I could click the Order Processing tab to enable processing and then go back into an Order and widen the column, and then go back to order Processing an unable it. When activating Site1 again, the column was widened. All very strange - how can SD be working properly on some sites and not Site1 in the multi-site same program? The only different thing that I can think of is that Site1 has a different payment provider in the Payments tab. I am wondering whether I need to re-install the payment provider stuff, but on the SD site there is no option to do it for 12.0.5 (latest is 12.0.3).

To make matters worse, on another site on the same multi user SD, I get an error message when I tried to publish to web, saying it may be a problem with permissions or with available space (neither of these should be a problem). I tested the network settings (which have never been changed) and the result was success on all points. Stuck there.

Looks like I will have to live with the current broken situation until I can contact support, most likely on Tuesday, as Monday we shall be too busy.

The only other thing I can think of is something blocking access to the database which is making things hang.

          The common culprits are

          1. Anti-virus. You might need to tell it sellerdeck is a safe program.

          2. UAC. You could try turning it off.
