Publishing to web error.

After making changes and attempting to publish to the web this afternoon we receive this error message.
I am sure we have had this before some time ago but cannot locate the solution.
We are very careful with Sellerdeck software and have not consciously pressed any wrong buttons.

It could be that?

I would think it unlikely that a move from dynamic to static IP address is causing this.

Did you try the instructions in the post I linked to? Can you connect to your server using a simple ftp program?

Highly unlikely but some hostsdo have facilities to set which ip addresses are allowed to connect via ftp making it a safer option. In those circumstances the IP address of the client (the gateway used by the PC which is running SellerDeck) must stay the same.

However it is unlikely that this is the case for you as a dynamic IP address can change thus you should have met this problem before. Whilst I did have a dynamic IP that remained the same for a year or two this cannot be relied on as there are numerous factors that affect the IP address that is assigned.

Having done some research I am not sure that the last line of the message is anything to do with ftp, that appears to be a Windows Error Message not an FTP error code. I would suggest you discuss this with SellerDEck support.

Firstly Mike we cannot connect to the server using your simple ftp programme.
When i look in Web and Advanced Network Set Up if i click on Test it brings up the error message 'Unable to connect to the FTP server because the specified username or password is incorrect.'
Looking back to 2104 we had the same problem and the password was incorrect.
Tried all sorts today and still no success.

Sorry I can't help out in person.

If you can't ftp into your site using a basic ftp program then the chances are it's a problem with either your PC or your ftp connection.

The first thing I'd do is try to identify the problem. Then try to find the solution.

To see if it's a PC problem:

- Try to ftp into your site from another PC. For example using a laptop or asking a friend to try for you.

If it is a PC problem (and the oplock error does look like a windows error):

- Run a full virus scan
- Run a registry repair program
- Try disabling your AV and Firewall
- Think about what else could be causing the problem.

If it's a connection problem;

- Check your username and password
- Make sure your host hasn't changed to secure ftp / is limiting access in some way.
- Get your host involved. See if they can ftp in from their PC. If not, why not?
- If none of this works I'd create an account with another web host and see if I can get it working with them.

For anyone else who sees a similar error message it was a failure to logon to the ftp server that generated the original message, it appears that this failure caused SellerDeck software to generate the last line of the message regarding the oplock.
