504 Gateway Timeout

Hi

My site is not working today. When I try and add an item to the cart I get this error message "Gateway Timeout

The gateway did not receive a timely response from the upstream server or application."

I have checked permission on directories are correct, scripts for perl , CGI are enabled.

I am not sure what else to check. Any ideas?

Odd. I can add to cart OK.

I could also checkout with PayPal but got an error when transferring to the psp for credit cards. Is that the problem you're referring to?

Hi No it won't add anything to cart. A customer also called to say it wasn't working and the host company tested and also could not add to cart. They said the engineers would look at the problem but I haven't heard back yet.

Oddly though, I haven't had any credit card payments since the site stopped working a few weeks ago when the host changed the path to root without telling me. I don't know if these problems are connected.

You don't mention how you corrected that problem, changing paths will cause major problems unless you change the web settings to match the reality on your host.

I changed the path in network settings to resolve the new path problem. Then did a complete refresh.

(I think the IP address may have changed too and this is why Sage might not be working.)

However, the main problem at the moment is the site is not working at all. Items can't be added to the cart.

I have tried increasing the script ID number by 1 last night and a complete refresh but no luck.

The server engineers came back to me and said there is nothing wrong with the server and it is to do with the scripts on my site.

Any help would be much appreciated as I am losing Christmas sales.

I'm just wondering if you change your DNS settings to the defaults, you might start to be able to resolve the issue.

I need to check the DNS because I assume when they changed my server (without telling me), the IP address might have changed as did the path. Let me check that and get back.

Fasthosts are notorious for not working with Sellerdeck. If I were you, I'd get some emergency hosting from Sellerdeck or buy a Host-It package. They're great.

I may have to do that but it has worked until yesterday and I can't be sure it is the hosting and not something wrong with the scripting.
