Add to Basket Improvement

The add to basket function in Sellerdeck is somewhat a dinosaur, not changed at all since we first started using Actinic in 2005. Our customers frequently express their frustration, when adding an item takes you to the basket then right back to the top of the page they came from. It can take a long long time. We sell a lot of smaller items, so it is not unusual for customer to purchase 50+ items. Is there a way of modifying this to include a better method of adding? I noticed a Sellerdeck site that has a little pop up, certainly far better: https://www.thesoapkitchen.co.uk

Most platforms have a much more sophisticated system that is user friendly. Is there a wish list where this can be added? A fantastic example of a perfect add to basket is this site: https://www.papermaze.co.uk/collections/latest-products

Hi Karen,

I'm glad you've highlighted this as its something we've very much been aware of and are addressing. I won't go into too much detail as we want to announce this in greater depth once we have more content to share.

But... there is a new feature we will be releasing that will change the behaviour of the add to cart, which will allow onpage instant add to cart.

It's important to mention that this feature is part of a wider strategy in releasing new and exciting features in the most affordable and accessible way. However, to access these new features, you will need to be on version 16 or above.

More information will be released closer to the time, which we are estimating is 6 to 8 weeks away.

The Soap Kitchen is a fantastic business and great customer. They decided to migrate to Magent0 as it offered the functionality set they required, including multi-site for multiple currency and back office integrations. It can offer a wide range of dynamic features, including multiple options for the add to cart functionality; its a great platform and also worth considering when you are reviewing your future eCommerce plans.

That is very exciting Josh. Really looking forward to that. Still on version 14.03 but have cover so can upgrade to v16, and definitely would do that for a new basket. Excellent news!

Can't you upgrade straight to SD18? That would be better than v16

There's been quite a bit of discussion and development around this in the past.

You'll see that the V8 advanced user guide had one method that still worked in V10 but I don't know if anyone has tried it more recently.

One of the independent developers had also developed an ajax solution that worked well but sadly they're no longer around.
