    Responsive Design Fragment Layouts

Hello, I have been playing around with a site that is currently based on an older non-responsive layout. It will upgrade into 2014 without too many problems, however on upgrading the site to a responsive layout the main issue I have encountered is with Fragment Layouts.

On the older layouts you could have:

"Image Only", "Image and Title" or "Text Only"

On the responsive layouts these options do not exist, consequently where we had been using the Fragment layouts I have mentioned above the site design has been ruined by subtitles, test and images in places where it should not be, or showing where for example in the case of 'text only' or 'image only' it would not have shown previously at all.

Is there a way to replicate Fragment layouts as per previous designs or does changing this cause a problem with the responsive layouts? Any advice greatly received.

Create the three missing layouts by right-clicking the responsive fragment layout that's nearest to what you want and choose Copy. Rename the copy to match the missing name.

You can then look in these new layouts and delete stuff so that they only display the required bits.

Thanks for your advice, i have had another problem in doing that that i cannot make sense of. Within the brochure pages even if i change the fragment layout to an alternative and apply it does not change the layout. If i try and do as you have suggested even though i create a new fragment layout and apply, wihin the design tab the layout is not the new one, hence anything i change actually changes one of the fragment layout included with the responsive design and not the new one (hope that makes sense). Its like it is locked of stuck to one layout.

This does not happen in the store pages, changing fragment layouts here do make the appearance change.

As a follow on to my last message should brochure inner layout be set as:

Standard brochure page bulk (as it has ended up following upgrade)

        or

        Brochure page body RWD

It appears that the latter allows fragment layouts to change.

        thanks

Brochure Page Body RWD is for responsive designs, as are any other layouts with RWD in the name.

When upgrading a site from earlier versions there can be problems if you have a layout with the same name in the older version as the upgrade fails to modify a layout that already exists. e.g. the 'DeepFooter' layout.
