Upgrade from v7 to Sellerdeck 2014 or not??

I have a dilemma. I have 2 sites built in v7 Developer. One is desperately out of date and needs a total rebuild. The other is up to date and gets on to the first page of Google for most of the key words (a small miracle for me).

Do I upgrade to Sellerdeck 2014 and if I do, how easy is it to convert my v7 sites bearing in mind that I used a standard design for both sites with no modifications to the code etc.

I am also considering a web based system such an Actinic. The advantages it has for me is that is has Amazon and ebay integration which would save me a load of time and that its cloud based allowing me to access it anywhere in the world on an ipad. However, I don't know how easy it would be to transfer my existing site over to it. They have quoted me £1600 + VAT for migration of my old site, migration of URLs to maintain Google ranking and SEO.

I like the idea of Sellerdeck being a desktop based system so I feel like I own it but I'm looking for advice and suggestions from those with more experience.

Upgrading would certainly be a recommendation as V7 is now over 10 years old, there have been many changes in the coding and features. If you upgrade from V7 to V2014 the usual recommendation would be to upgrade in stages to avoid database errors. There still could be some upgrade problems that need correcting. The V2014 has default mobile friendly themes, Google will soon rank mobile friendly websites higher on mobile searches so having a responsive layout would be an advantage. Using SellerDeck with Amazon and eBay are areas that you could utilise in SellerDeck by using a third party plugin or custom programming, companies such as CodePath and MoleEnd have done work in that area.

I upgraded from v8 to v2014 back in December. I upgraded as per Louise's suggestion of going through the staged upgrade.

I have had a few issues.

When I clicked the Confirm Order button it just said SAVING YOUR ORDER and never went to the payment gateway. This took over a week to sort it out. Hopefully if you do encounter this then they now know how to solve it.

I have now upgraded to 14.0.1 and are now having problem with filtering not working properly when set to Make Filtering the Default View. Sellerdeck support are currently looking into this.

No idea why I have had these issues!!!

Thank you for the replies. I must admit that I was encouraged to start looking at upgrading again because of the Google update of 21 April. I realise how out of date v7 is and I will probably have to relearn everything again. I wonder how hard this will be given that I have v7 experience.

I haven't done much at all with the design that I have so I don't think this would be an issue. If I do the upgrade by cycling through the different versions, is it possible to do this on the latest version of Sellerdeck alone or do I need something else?

I am encouraged that there are some plugins for ebay and Amazon integration. I will look at these because this was one of the main reasons for looking at Actinic. I can live without being able to access from anywhere in the world because orders should be emailed to me anyway, unlike now where its a bit hit and miss.
