Product columns count in database

I am upgrading a large site to v14. Max column count for products in v14 is 3 but dozens and dozens of sections have product count 4 so none display. Default is one and I don't want to reset all to 1 or 3 using the layout selector.

Is it possible to find the product column count in the database? If so I can just do a find and replace 4 for 3. I have looked in Catalog section and product but no joy.

Does anyone know?
