    PDF files

Forgive me if this is the wrong section, but all of us have pdf files for customers to download, however, I was told earlier by a web designer/SEO guy that Google and the likes do not bother with searching them

They will search Word documents better than pdf's. Now I've been using pdf's for years and of course they can be compressed, secured to prevent competitors copying them and worse still, editing them etc

Has anyone else heard of this and is there any truth in this?

    Thanks

I'd say web designer/SEO guy is wrong. Google does search pdfs.

It's easy to test. Pick something suitable from one of your pdfs and google it.

Is what I also thought Mike. I think what this guy was saying, and don't quote me, but files made in Adobe Acrobat are not seen as much as files made in Word which are then printed to PDF as technically, it is seen as a Word document

Then again, I have tech drawings made in Visio, I just Googled that as well and hey presto !!

I think the guy is wrong big time on this one

I just wondered if anyone had actually heard of such a thing
