    Windows 10 upgrade

Is a Sellerdeck v14 installation going to be affected by upgrading the operating system to Windows 10?

    #2
Most of the programs I have used on Windows 8 work ok on Windows 10 but I have not come across any company that is willing to say it will be ok until they get a final version of Windows 10, not a pre-release one.

A mate of mine is an IT guy and said much the same. He has the Beta version and said it's saddled with bugs although "Workable"
Much like a new car or anything new such as software etc, I'd always leave it a good year before I take the plunge

I mainly use Windows 7 although I have Windows 8 on a laptop and whilst I've done the best I can to replicate it like Windows 7, I cannot get away from the awful main screen stuff. It's typical iPad type of layout and I hate it, no doubt the main reason why Windows 10 came out all of a sudden

With Windows 10 shipping from 29 July I can't be the only one wondering if SD14 and W10 will play nicely together...Anyone?

I have an App that replicates Windows 7 on a windows 8 PC. Very handy. I can switch between the two.

I don't want to be a guinea pig for Microsoft. I think they are giving away W10 due to the lack of acceptance of W8. I will wait a few months before considering an upgrade,

I've been using SellerDeck 14.01 on Windows 10 since launch.
Operates exactly the same as on 7/8. Haven't had any problems so far.

Window's upgrade process also has no effect on any files/programs you already have installed.
They all remain as they were. Only the core OS files are changed.

It is recommended you backup beforehand anyway though. As with any OS install.

Here's a warning for anyone using Notepad++ as their text editor. If you install Notepad++ into Windows 10, it sets itself to use UTF-8 as the default character encoding for new documents. This can cause hair-pulling bugs as code that looks correct in Notepad++ will not be what you thought you were typing in the new document.

To fix this, in Notepad++ go to Settings / Preferences / New Document and set Encoding to ANSI.
