    Mysterious Character �

    I have recently upgraded to SellerDeck v14.0.3 (with the invaluable assistance of Louise for which many thanks) but now the following symbol � keeps appearing throughout the site - but mostly before prices or numbers.

    An example is at http://www.morethanmowers.co.uk/cgi-...earch&SO=2_4_0

    It would seem that a space is being replaced by a � in these situations.

    Can anyone please help me to resolve this glitch please.

    Actually looking further it appears that the character � being replaced is 'mostly' the pound (£) sign

    That indicates a server encoding issue. It is not just the £ pound sign, but also spaces between pagination, the character » in the footer and characters in Javascript. A default site and your code has: <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" /> It could be your hosts are using a different default character set UTF-8 which overwrites the HTML. You can check with your host or try a change in the .htaccess file if it has a specification of AddDefaultCharset UTF8 it can be changed to: AddDefaultCharset ISO-8859-1

      Many thanks Louise. I changed the Meta Tag entry to Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-UTF-8" and uploaded and all is back to normal now.

      Our hosting server crashed yesterday and was down for around 20-30 mins and I think this change must have taken place then.

        I thought I'd check this out, just tried clicking on a mower and this came up:

        Not Found

        The requested URL /acatalog/Lawn-Tractors.html was not found on this server.
        Your site seems to be not working at all...

          I finally cracked it. I restored the Meta Tag back to iso-8859-1 and added the following line to the .htaccess file:


          AddDefaultCharset iso-8859-1

          I had to load the htaccess file into httpdocs directory and into the test directory and into the cgi-bin.

          Anyway all is now working fine.

            Strange... It works okay on IE

            But on Firefox:

            I go to http://www.morethanmowers.co.uk/

            Then click on a mower and it takes me to:

            http://community.sellerdeck.com/acat...-Tractors.html

            Probably my browser...

              I am sorry you had a problem with the site. I think if you visit the site you will find that it is operating correctly with all browsers.
