    Fragments Acting Odd

    I have already asked for help about this, and I have searched the forums extensively, all to no avail. I have also asked support for help. So far I have not been able to solve this problem and I am spending days on what should take minutes. I am using V14.03 and fragments in this *** have a complete mind of their own - as everything else in this piece of software seem to have. I have tried images alone but they wont centralise, I have used HTML but to no avail. I use fragments extensively so it's a major problem. I am attaching some images so you can see the problem I am having. Support insists there is no problem.

    I have attached screenshots of the problems, and also how they should appear as on my old site.

    PLEASE HELP! Otherwise I am just going to have absolutely no hair left, not to mention no business.

      Managed to centralise in the brochure by overwriting it totally, but the problem still remains on the index page. How come I am the only one with this problem?

      Who uses V14.03 and employs fragments? Can you please come forth LOL

          Hi Karen,

          I don't know what you have in your fragments but I tend to think of a fragment as essentially a product layout without all the product related stuff like the price, add to cart button and form information for submitting to the cart.

          Because of the way Sellerdeck treats the different bulk areas of the page I suspect the best way to use fragments these days is to start with a product layout and strip out the bits you don't want.

          This will work for the product pages but for the section areas I think you maybe need to use one of the section link layouts as a starting point.

            OK I'm back already I tried moving fragments that wouldn't play ball (all of them) from the home page into the shop pages and they are fine, it is therefore the way the index page interacts with the fragments that is the problem. Brochure pages are the same, they don't work either. What can I do to solve this?

              Ooh I was writing as you posted. Thanks for your reply Mike. The (current) problem is the fragments on the index page. They seemingly behave on shop pages. I moved some causing problems from index page into a section and they were just fine, so it's how they interact with that index page. I have to show a lot of images etc as I have lots of project ideas on the website, these are not products but seperate. I also use fragments to hold information etc. I included some screenshots in the first two posts. I think this could be a bug.

                Just checked and they all worked as they should in Sellerdeck 2013. I am now considering using 2013 and discarding 2014 altogether. Nobody seem to be able to help and I can't have a messy home page like that. Has anyone installed V14.03 and tried using images and tables in fragments on the home page and brochure pages? Section and product pages are OK.

                  Fragments plus mega menu

                  More examples, and something else I hope you can help me with.

                  Here is the front page in Sellerdeck 2013 - as you can see the "welcome to Charmed..." image aligns perfecttly central. Then importing into V14.03 with the fragment modified accordingly to centralise the image. As you can see it does not play ball.

                  ALSO: Look at the mega menu in V2013, it expands nicely to include the whole of the name. Now check it out in V14.03, the width is inflexible and it looks messy. How can I make it behave as in V2013?

                  Sorry for all the questions but seriously, there must be a few bugs still rattling round V14.03

                    The image alignment is due to default CSS which floats images left, it would require custom changes as explained in a reply on your other post here.

                      Hi Peblaco. That was the grey area Malcolm was referring to and I've left that now. The fragments work as I want them in the shop pages, but NOT on the index and the brochure pages. I have implemented the image only layout, and there is nothing wrong with that in the aforementioned pages, but they do not work on the index page or the brochure pages. Nobody has explained to me why that is. I have never asked about mega menus before

                      I did employ someone to do the site for me, but six months in and I have yet to see a design. I cannot afford to hire someone else. I can certainly code in HTML and that's fine, I have a degree in IT and computing, although that was quite some years ago and I've not done anything for many a year. Stylesheets I am a total novice at. Give me C, C++ even Smalltalk and I'm fine. I look at the style sheets and the weird blocks and variables in Sellerdeck and I have no diea where I am.

                      I am not one given easily to tears, but Actinic and Sellerdeck have a knack of extracting them!!
                      Kind Regards

                        The mega menu wraps the section titles as it is designed to be responsive. If you do not want it to word wrap then you will need to change the css to make the sections wider but it will then be a problem as the screen width decreases. The SellerDeck solution, to make the Mega Menu responsive, is to allow word wrap within each title which is why you see multi line titles, if that is what you want then you need to change the css to fix the width of each section of the menu, this will require some skill as you need to set a css value for each item in the menu.

                        I see from your previous posts that you are not happy with css which is a bit strange for someone who says 'Give me C, C++', as a C/C++ programmer I find PHP, javascript and CSS to be easily comprehensible. and SellerDeck layouts (the pink lines) are really only functions() containing code or other functions. CSS is a bit more difficult due to the various standards and the way that different browsers interpret those standards.

                          try this http://test2.toddesigns.com/ for a centred image in a brochure fragment.

                          SellerDeck support are not flumoxed by your requests, their job is to support SellerDeck packages, SellerDeck 2014 does not include a centered image for fragments so they cannot support you as there is nothing to support.

                          This requires two new layouts which are responsive layouts.

                          1/ New Layout in Fragments as part of FragmentLayoutRWD selector.

                          Layout Name = 'Subheading And Text Below Centred Image'
                          Code:

                          </actinic:block>
                          	</div>

                          	<div style="clear: both;">&nbsp;</div>
                          3/ New code in Current Stylesheet

                          at the end of stylesheet add
                          Code:
                          .set-center {
                          	width: 50%;
                          	margin: 0 25%;
                          }
                          BTW
                          The reason that fragments can act differently in Brochures and Section/Product pages is that in Section/Product pages they are treated as products and appear inside a div with different css settings to those in a brochure page.
