Easy transfer of sites in a computer crisis?

This morning we started work to find that our main computer for the business had gone off for some reason overnight.

After a few unsuccessful reboots, we finally got windows to load. However, our emails had all stopped working with problems, and all images across all of our sellerdeck sites had been lost.

Sellerdeck still worked, and could switch sites, but during a snapshot it would report thousands of missing images.

We are not sure if this was a bad windows update, as it finished installing an update at reboot, or the start of a disc failure. We have now got everything back working again, but want to be prepared should the situation happen again.

We have installed everything into a laptop which is ready to go should the main pc fall over. We don't however want to spend lots of un-necessary time doing 3 imports every day into the laptop, just in case of failure.

If the main computer hasn't had any site changes each day, and only processing of orders and stock control. Would it be possible to keep the backup laptop ready to go by just pasting the database in each day?

Using the laptop instead isn't an option as it is too slow, we would only want to use if the main PC fails.
    Regards

Yes it would be. Or, you could use Mole End's Easy Orders backup tool on the main PC, saving every 15 minutes or so, keep the resultant files in the cloud, and download as and when necessary.

To prevent hundreds of files being kept in the cloud, you could download Belvedere to delete them on a regular basis, oldest first.

    That's how we do it.

I have in the past kept all back ups in the cloud and even the sites, allowing me to use a laptop at home and pc at work to work on sellerdeck without have to import. Basically it was available to any computer I had with software on.
I'm now looking at WD my cloud. a 8tb drive which will back up everything I have and the drive partitions so it mirrors.
So if your computer fails you have a back up and a back up of the back up on the cloud all done automatically
