Old pages remaining on the Web

I have had 2 orders this week for items that have been removed from the website over a year ago. I now have to cancel these as they are long discontinued. Why are these remaining? I have refreshed the site loads of times in the past year.

Old web pages can be left on the site and although they cannot be accessed from the existing links on the web site they can still be accessed by someone who has saved the links in their browser, or if the links exist in the browser history.

I have just had another one. These pages were deleted over a year ago. How do I get rid?

SellerDeck does not delete old pages from the web server during an upload or refresh.

You need to use FTP to access the web server and manually delete the old pages.

Or try Help / Troubleshooting / Web Site Purge and Refresh.

Read the warning that pops up and choose a time when customers are unlikely to be on the site.

Deselecting the buy checkbox is wise prior to deleting.

I've noticed similar happen when a page name was changed rather than deleting a page and starting again.

When we discontinue a product we:

                Knock item out of stock
                Reduce price to £0
Add the word "DISCONTINUED" to product name

                Upload site

                Delete product

                Upload again.

It may sound like a lot of bother, but we may be discontinuing a dozen or more products at a time so it isn't really a hassle.
                Regards
