Two pages very slow..

I have two pages that are very slow to load when the links are clicked, I have same issue in Internet Explorer, Safari, Edge and Chrome, so assume it is something I have done - sometimes there is an error message saying something about "a very long script" but this is intermittent. Is there anything obvious anyone can see? I'd be most grateful.

The page I looked at - /John-Guest-1-4-.html - is 3.5 Megabytes in size. Way too large.

It has 63 images totaling 1.4 Mb. The 24 or so images in your slideshow are between 31Kb and 80Kb each - much larger than they need to be.

There are 21 JavaScripts totaling 1.5Mb. Big culprit is an uncompressed jQuery UI at 426Kb.

And there are many products on this page, each one with many reviews. I'd expect that pulling in all these reviews is taking some toll and this may be why you see the script timeout warning.

Pingdom tool will show you which items on a page are slow.

Also https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights/ will show you items to optimism and then give you the option to download the compressed files


Screaming frog seo will crawl the site to show you any large image files on the site.

Google Analytics will also allow to to list all pages on your site and you can then arrange by page speed.

If you use the pingdom tool you you'll see most of the time is spent downloading from your host. 2.4 m i think you could easily trim this down to 1.4 by reducing the image size and possibly less items/page.

I did do a comparison to one of my pages

mine was 1m downloaded in 2.54 secs
yours was 2.9m downloaded in 21 sec.

Mine actually downloads 15% from other domains whereas your is only 5% external. I'd look at image sizes, caching, compression and maybe ask you host about the speed issue is it seems slower than it should be
