At the moment I pay over £50 for my site to be hosted by sellerdeck plus they charged me an extra £20 for excess bandwidth in september. Are there any other hosts that might be cheaper for me.

Hi Sue,
I host my Sellerdeck sites with Sellerdeck and Hanson Web Design, I find them both to be very good. Jenny's from Hanson's details are here if you want to have a chat to her:

Host-It
For my latest website I am using Host-It and very satisfied (Norman also referred to this). It is a package especially designed for use with Sellerdeck. They provide the web settings for you as a file to import into the settings on Sellerdeck. Reasonable price. Good personal service. UK.

Another vote for Host-It
I am also just in the process of moving to Host-It
Initial feelings are good
Fast response to queries. Test site up and running within hours.
Seemingly good value for money - £9.99pm for 30GB traffic (compared with Sellerdecks £45 pm for 12GB traffic)
Yet to test the PayPal integration, which was what prompted the move after1and1 shared server upgrades caused PayPal to cease functioning correctly
Only caveat is that their own website (or at least the Sellerdeck specialist bit) gives the impression of being quite basic. I am unsure how big a company it is, although redaing up about them, they seem to have been around a fair time, and owned by a larger parent company, with their own (not leased) UK based servers across 4 sites

localhost
Whilst setting up my Host-it test site, I am following Normans advice and using local host as my email.
On my 'live site' my broadband is provided by BT (who severely throttle my outgoing email when sent from Sellerdeck - limit of about 10 emails per 2-3 hour session, which isn't enough to cover our order confirmations)
Website to be hosted by Host-It
If I enter localhost, does the email still go via BT or does it now start using Host-It email servers (who hopefully won't throttle my outging mail)?
Any advice appreciated.

P.S. This is anothe reason for not using 1&1. They are based in Germany and since January 2014 have had to obey a German Federal law that requires them to put a 20 second delay before sending any emails. This delays the Receipt page display and annoys / confuses customers.Norman - www.drillpine.biz

I am using Fasthosts and I have had a problem with Sellerdeck payments for several weeks which is still not solved. Basically when a credit card order is received the local Sellerdeck program thinks it is not paid but if I log on to the Sellerdeck payments website it is paid and approved.
Sellerdeck have been trying to sort the problem out, but there has been a lot of too-ing and fro-ing and talk of permission etc.. and we are still no closer to a solution.
If I was on Sellerdeck hosting I can't help thinking it would be sorted out since Sellerdeck could not blame anyone else for the problem. I can't afford Sellerdeck hosting as my site has several large digital downloads - some tutorials we sell for £20-£80 which are 4GB each. So the bandwidth costs would be high.
I mention this mainly to warn any body who is thinking of using any other hosting company of the potential problems.

Hi Sue,
I wouldn't recommend moving to fasthosts, I used them as my first host and while they had remarkably good customer support, their servers were overcrowded and gave poor performance, this was many many years ago now though and so it may have changed.
I would recommend that you move to a host that knows Sellerdeck well and can help you out with the move.
I don't know anything about hostit but I suspect that they need those details to move your domain over.
