Nested components and Permutations

i am building a new site and am looking at utilising the dynamic pricing and assembly product feature more effectively but i am running into trouble.

Here is the situation.

I want to create Product C;

Product C is an assembly product made from Product A and Product B.

Whilst Product A is only ever one thing Product B has choices (1,2.3)

I want customers to be able to Browse to Product C choose which version on Product B they want and the price to be dynamically changed.

At present my Product C has a component which is for the hen house and uses all the associated pricing of Product A.

Product C then has another component which is for the Parent Product B.

This setup doesn't seem to provide me with the option of choosing a product B Option.

can anyone suggest where i am going wrong? or am i asking SD to do something it cant?

Did you assign an attribute with choices to the Product B component?

yes i did although i have found that i can simply copy the component from product B which gives me the required result

I've just tested in 2014 and it seems fine to me.

What I did:

- Create a new product
- Create a component for product A
- Create a component for product B
- -> Create an attribute for product B
- -> Create three choices for the attribute

This gives me a product with the option to choose from the choices using a drop down list.
