I have image ("Buy CD") on my site called by the "cartbuttonimage" variable. However, the image listed in the variable values is not the one appearing on the site. Anyone know how this could happen? The image on the site is the correct one, but I can't for the life of me find how it is being called. Is there some coding which can sit somewhere else and override the variable settings?

It' not being set in Site Options>General> 'Cart Button Image' is it?-----------------------------------------

To change it for a particular product you'd probably need to create a new product layout based on the original one and then go in and manually set the image rather than using the variable.-----------------------------------------
