"Update Order Handling" - please fix now... and consider handling changes

After many years seeing it not fixed... It needs fixing now.

We'd like to add a value of this to some orders... especially to EU ones as it's taking a lot longer to deal with CN22/23 etc...

eg. Putting "5" in the "Calculated" field and hitting "Update Order Handling", does not update to 5, but reverts to 0
    - not in the "Shipping" side (right next to it), when you put a figure in the "Calculated" field, and hit "Update Order Shipping", it updates correctly, so not sure why "shipping" side works and "handling" side does not...

Can be done, but you need to go into Settings and change the Handling (for all orders), then apply it, and apply it on the order itself, then go back to settings and zero it off again... it's a right hassle.

Something to consider on EU exit...
Would be nice if certain countries can be applied "Handling" fee - esp EU ones... then on checkout EU ones will have the extra handling fee

    It get's my vote.

The ability to add a handling fee automatically to certain countries makes a lot of sense.

And it should be possible to over-ride the original handling fee on the system.

I've added this request to our wish list. It would be quite a lot of work to implement, and risky, because it touches on two of the most complex areas of the product. It's not something we could implement in a short time.

In the meantime, is there any reason why you could not simply add the costs to the shipping charges for the EU?

We have already done this in the past to get around this problem... we have each country segregated... every shipper have different groupings of countries... it's just easier to manage without drawing sets and when a set is not right for another shipper it gets even more complicated on which country is in which zone etc...
        • adding handling to an order... handling button doesn't work... it really needs fixing
        • it's a fixed value, don't have to update tables of shipping values - we have each country segregated
        • not always "shipping" related... it is "handling"... - right now... EU orders are taking us longer to process...
        • DPD actually has fixed surcharges for deliveries for some countries... updating 1 value is nicer than tables of them (on mulitple sites)...
        • I heard FEDEX and DHL are surcharging a fixed value more for EU clearance related... it's a quick way of adding a value to the shipping when the shippers do such a thing
