Sorting of customer accounts

Rather disappointed to see:

When using customer accounts in mail order, customer addresses are still sorted by the date they were entered rather than numerically/alphabetically .

I know for many this may not be an issue but it is getting to be a big problem for us. I can’t understand why in customer accounts maintenance they are sorted numerically/alphabetically but in actual use they are not.
