    stock value report ?

have i missed it or have actinic overlooked the obvious ?

we want to be able to run a stock value report from actinic

    our stock levels are set

    our cost prices are set

now i want to run a simple on hand stock value (money value)

All the items are there but where is the report.

I cant believe actinic have overlooked this after spending the best part of 2 years on updating stock issues.

And why are we still on crystal reports ? !!!

    It's a bit rubbish, isn't it?
You could export to excel and create a report from that?

Alternatively, Mole End do a "Profit and Pricing Tool" that includes a Stock Valuation report, amongst other things. Clever tool it is, actually.

I agree about the Crystal Reports thing too. It almost feels like they're too lazy to change it. IMO, reports should be handled (and modifiable/editable) WITHIN Actinic itself.

mole end again, i will end up spending the cost of actinic again with all the plug ins needed to get it to work.

Are there any mole end discounts going, they used to do a discount for actinic cover subscribers i think?

I need to renew a few things with them

I agree it seems like an obvious report and with the end of the financial year approaching we decided to setup an SQL Database query on the Actinic database from within Excel so we generate a stock value report.

It is not difficult to do and is free (if you already have Excel). I would imagine you can do the same if you have MS Access, although I am more familiar with Excel.

Thanks for raising that. Could you clarify specifically what you would want in the report?

Would that be in the form of a list of products currently in stock, with the quantity and value of the stock held for each product, plus a total?

And would you want that based on product price or cost price, or both?

Yes, basically a list of stock monitored products with quantities currently in stock of each item/variant and a value of the stock of that item with a grand total at the bottom totaling all the products together.

For me only the cost price would be required but might be useful for some to have the option of having it based on selling price instead.

Hi, I am also trying to run a stock valuation report via ODBC in Excel, I am using the product table, is this correct? i only ask as I keep getting duplicate products with different stock levels, the only difference I can see is the product reference, one of them has a 1! in front of the ref. Any ideas?

                  Thanks

The 1! indicates the product is a duplicate. For your purpose you should be able to disregard any product with a number followed by ! before the product ID.
