    V10 Upgrade failure...

    Hello,

We have just installed v10 business plus on a new windows 7 computer and an old windows Xp computer as an additional user. All was well and we could use both computers on the sample Actinic store.

We imported a v9 snapshot, but when it started upgrading the layouts it repeatedly hung at "importing record line 1535 of 1714".

The programme literally stops responding and we have to restart our new computer, how do we overcome this?

Also, this syncrohinastion server in v10 has us baffled. Do you need one user permanently logged in with this function, surely it just happens in the background automatically? We keep getting a warning that "stock handling sync not logged on"?

We had hoped for real time stock control just by running our network linked to Actinic Epos. Any ideas what this is about?

Basics first really - check the V9 snapshot works in V9 - Compact databases then try again. If it is a new PC make sure the sites folders are where they should be (documents usually) especially if they were put somewhere different on the old machine as Actinic would be looking there.

Hi Ed, thank you for your reply.

We think it may also be the size of the snapshot making it a very slow process that we interrupted thinking it had failed or a niggle with the fact that we had already installed and set up the multi user.

Either way we uninstalled the v10 om both machines and cannot install a new one because we cannot remove the existing Site1 folder

So the white flag of surrender is flying high over Charnham House, Actinic has foiled us again and we have called in the Cavalry. Chris Dicken is coming to install the whole thing next Tuesday!

      All the best, Robert

Better get a box of chocolate biscuits in - Chris is very partial to a couple or so with his coffee.

You probably have already but check

Documents & settings | All users| Shared Documents| Actinic V* that needs to be deleted before you can re-load actinic in V( version so probably same in V10

We just couldn't leave it alone and had a second attempt at upgrading.

Much more successful except for the missing checkout phase, which Chris will no doubt be looking into first thing tommorrow.

I'm amazed he still visits us as I use him to test shaving cream formulaes on!

Only if he doesn't restore our live checkout!

We also have www.coates1847.com, new products tested on Chris!
