    Page Name change issue;

    I have searched this & it seems changing the page name is not a wise idea?

    When I started to load my site, I used the original Actinic V10 sections (Books, Computers.....), changed the name in the "general" settings page, but not in the "page settings" page.

    I just uploaded my site yesterday, & when I look at certain sections, the browser address bar displays "books" or whatever, instead of the actual section name & when I mouse over the main navigation menu on my screen the same thing is happening - Books instead of my actual product name. This is the same for the first seven pre-existing sections that I have used.

    I have tried to change these in the "page settings" of the section, but I am getting an "Selected image file does not exist" error?

    From what I read, the problem with changing the page names is that it problematic for search engines - but at this point I have no rankings anywhere, it that make it easier or wiser to change the page name?

    Thanks.

    If you have nothing to maintain, then changing it all and setting it up correctly now seems a good idea, especially if you are taking a long term view on the site. If you did have rankings to preserve, you'd do a 301 redirect to cover for that. The image error is because the image does not exist where you are saying it is. If you delete the location, then change the page name, it will do as you want, you then need to point it to the right place. Most likely you're not storing your images in the right place either.

    Before you jump in do yourself a massive favour and have a read of the tutorials on my site about the basics and how to do things for trouble free motoring, i think they will stand you in good stead.

      OK, Thanks.

      I moved the products out of the sections, deleted them, created new sections & re-filled them.

      As a matter of fact, I have already looked at your Actinic advice pages several times - all useful stuff - cheers.

        All good advice from leehack.

        Just to add the obvious though. It can take many weeks before you see any decent rankings from the search engines - especially if you have no appreciable links pointing to your site. But keep with it. This software has always been well accepted by the engines so you have made a good choice.
