    Less expensive thermal lebels

    Hi Community
I am trying to find a cheap alternative to Dymo labels. We are using Dymo writer 400 to print 100x58 size labels. Each label costing about 5p (using 99014 labels). It was ok, when we print a few labels a day, now we print rather lots of this and the cost is adding up very quickly.

Is there any alternative thermal printers using less expensive generic labels, rather than Dymo labels, I have tried some Dymo compatible labels, but not worth the trouble.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated
    Thank you
    Phillip

Not really the correct room to ask!

We get ours from eBay 20 rolls of 99010 (smaller I think) for about £20

Pretty much the same answer as Jason's.

      - Compatibles from ebay work fine for me (about half the price)
      - Use the smaller 99010 labels (about half the price again)

I wouldn't worry about it too much though. As long as your pricing is correct I'd have thought saving 1-2p per order isn't the best place to be focusing.

        What we use

We use Citizen CLP-521 printers, which we obtained on eBay second-hand, and also obtained free of charge from our carriers. We use the labels supplied free of charge by the carriers (we use 3 carriers). One of the carriers is the Royal Mail, and their labels can be used for all Royal Mail despatches, using Royal Mail's Despatch Express software (also free). If you are sending reasonable volumes, this could be a way of saving time and money, and have a record of all despatches (proof of despatch).

I use a Tharo printer from http://www.internetlabels.co.uk/ - the printer cost £299 and 100K labels 50x20mm approximately cost us another £100. This was better than the Dymo by far and we use it the free software for creating barcodes and they'll give you a price on whatever label size you need. They also have stock labels: http://www.internetlabels.co.uk/buy_labels.htm

I found the same problem. cheap printer expensive labels

we changed to a Zebra lp244 which seems to be a very common printer - about £160 from ebay. Label cost dropped to about £45 for a box (either 4500 or 9000 - i can't remember) cheap enough not to worry about.
