The buttons are styled by the colours in your design theme. You should be able to see the two colours defined in the theme config, try changing them there. Alternatively, you will need to delve into the css to style them directly yourself. Select the button on the design tab, then in the code provided on screen, note the class being applied, highlight it, right click and look up in stylesheet to get taken to the class.

      Blank next button

Thanks for the info , but no matter what combination of colours there is no difference, The next and cancel button in the checkout pages remain blank,
I do not see how the css can change the font colour as that is what seems to be needed. Help!!

The css sets both the background color and the text color, so if both are set to white, you get white text on white background, ie invisible. As a temp measure, make sure no color in the theme config is set to white, you will then see, rest assured it is this area that's the problem and the css is what is controlling it.

It is definitely the colours. See attached...
Again, Firefox with Firebug or Chrome and Inspect Element are the tools you need to quickly see and fix these issues.

            Next button now visible

Thank you both for your help the problem is now solved, but in case any one else has a similar problem it was interesting to note that the font on this button was set to the background colour and not the text.
