    Capture card

Still getting my head around v10 and would like to know how hard it is to set up capture card payments so i can check stock before manually entering details in my pdq terminal

It's very easy but you aren't allowed to do it.

Read up on PCI-DSS for details.

What you need is an online Paymesnt Service Provider to handle the card details for you. You can tell them to 'pre-authorise' payments so they check the card details but don't take any payments until after you've checked your stock and approved the order.

Why not use v10 online stock control so you will be 99% sure that you don't take an order without stock

If you're talking about online orders, SagePay allow you to do defered transactions, where the money is reserved and authorised on the customers card but doesn't actually technically leave the card until you manually release the transaction.
If you don't want to release the transaction you can then just void it and it goes away without you ever taking the funds off the customer.
