VB Interface Interacting with the Actinic Database

Would it be possible to create a small program in Visual Basic that when opened connects to the Actinic database, I could then search for the relevent products and adjust the stock levels. When I have finnished adjusting the stock levels I could then carry out a Actinic 'Refresh.'

Would Actinic allow another program to interact with the database whilst live stock control is switched on?

If you are using live stock control Actinic ignores all changes made by external programs, sometimes a full refresh will work and sometimes it won't. In theory it ought to but I have a program that updates stock and customers have reported that if live stock is switched on that even a refresh will not put the correct stock levels online after an update by an external program.

      Oh that's great

Well that's another work around blown out of the water then.

Thanks Jan, you have just saved me a load of time. It's a shame, I was going to bring in the product image that I was changing the stock for, reducing the prices on products would have been quicker as well.

      Have a great bank holiday

I would suggest double checking it - and if I'm right then just switch off live stock control before changing the prices, then refresh and switch it back on again.

The other fields should be fine to be updated, so long as you update the last update date as well, only stock level data is affected by the stock control settings.

Thanks Jan, I'll get online for some VB Tutorials and do some testing.
