    Empty files named tf_axxxx?

    I seem to have hundreds of files in my acatalog directory named tf_axxxx

    For example:

    http://www.thedebugstore.com/acatalog/tf_a3765.html

    Does anyone have any idea why they are there?

    Do you think kt would be safe to remove them?

    That looks like something is generating per product files with filenames like

    tf_<actinic:variable name="EncodedProductAnchor" />.html

    Thread http://community.actinic.com/showthread.php?t=31559 (posts 8 and 9) was about making an add-to-cart capability from the search results. It created files named

    sr_<actinic:variable name="EncodedProductAnchor"/>.html

    So it's possible that someone's been experimenting with something similar.

    Look at the dates of these files and you might get a clue.

      Thanks Norman.

      Something strange is happening here.

      I can see the file is present when entered into my browser but I cannot see it when using CuteFTP Pro of Filezilla.

      I just wanted to check the date on the file!

        The file you mention in you post #1 isn't empty. It contains just:
        Code:
        <a name="a3765"></a>

        <table width="100%" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="10" border="0">
           <tr>
              <td align="left" valign="top">

              </td>
           </tr>
        </table>
        And Firebug says it was modified on 18 March 2009 18:18:08.

          Another thought. Try searching the Library for "tf_".

            tf = top fragment as my guess, some fangled way of doing fragments on the home page that was never taken up is my wild and wonderful guess at what these are. Maybe Gabe's method that he provided on the forum, that was pretty out there.

              No, I cannot find it in the library.

              I am now using Business Plus v10.0.1 KEUB. Maybe it was left over from the previous version.

              I am not sure why I don't seem able to see the files in my FTP program (unless it has some limit to the number of files displayed). I have also tried to find them via the Cpanel on my server and it does not list them either. I will check today with my ISP and see what they say.

                I have done some more research and it seems that there is a file number limit on FTP access of 2000 files. As our acatalog directory has nearer 3000 files this is why I am unable to display the files I need to delete in my FTP application. Using cpanel is not an option as, although I can now list the tf_ files It takes about 20 seconds to select one file to delete it using cpanel. There seem to be a few hundred files needing delation.

                I have also reported the problem to Actinic Support. If it is Actinic that has created this problem I am not happy - they should have thought more about the consequences.

                  Unlikely. It looks like some local experimenting at your end.

                  Have a think about what might have been happening around 18 March 2009.
