    Checkout crashes in Safari

    Hi guys,

By complete chance, whilst at a friends house this evening showing him my site/ordering process, I discovered that the site isn't working properly in Safari.

I have downloaded Safari at home and the problem is gone.

On my friends computer, after you filled in your address and clicked NEXT you got a white page with the plain written hyperlinks in blue, no coding or images

Now as I've been able to get to the PSP here maybe all is well?

intershoot.co.uk if anyone wants to try Safari...

We tested the checkout extensively with Safari, both on Mac and PC. Can your friend still replicate it, if so can you send me the details.

          Hi guys,

Many thanks for picking up the thread, it only did this on my friends computer, think it's his internet settings TBH

              Hi Guys,

We are getting the exact same error here using Safari version 5.03 on a Mac

We are also getting the same using Safari version 5.0 on a Windows machine.

And our client is on a Macbook using Safari 5.03 and he is getting the same error.

After you fill in your address, and click next, you are returned to a page that looks like the style sheet has not loaded. It is also the same page (enter address etc) rather than heading onto the Shipping page.

              Any ideas?

              Actinic V10 btw

                  Hi Mark

It is a development site in progress at the moment, not gone live yet.

Here is a tinyurl for the shop section

Good news - works fine here - 5.04 MacBook Air
Bad news - haven't got a clue what could be wrong :-(

Let me know if you want any info on my settings etc.

Hmmmm. Just downloaded and installed Safari 5.0.4 on another Windows machine and it works fine...

Will try and update the older installs and see if that sorts it....

                        Nope.

Upgraded both the other Windows machine and the Mac to 5.0.4 - still same error.

Cleared the cache on them, same error.

But it works on my windows machine here...

We have checked the preferences settings in all the machines and they are the same....

This one has me stumped for now.

OK, is this something to do with the BASEHREF ?

If I view source on the Safari that this is working in I see :
                          <BASE HREF="http://www.url.com/acatalog"> etc

On the machine where the safari is not working, I see
                          <BASE HREF="http://url.com/acatalog"> etc

                          missing the www......

Where is this set and why is it different in one installation of Safari over another ?

OK, I can replicate this by clearing the cache (reset safari) and then go to the site without using the www - buy something and start the checkout procedure.

So, I would imagine that this will be solved when the site is moved to its proper domain, not the development one we are using at the moment.

But would have to 301 any non www pages to www so that the suer is always on a www page consistently.

Always good practice to send to www version, so yeah sounds like that will fix it.
