    Site Search Engine

Is it possible for either a Product or Brochure page to open to a site search. I would like to create a "product" called printer cartridges which, when selected enables one to enter a printer model which then searches for and returns the result for relevant printer cartridges, which are actual products. A drop down searchfield would also be a great option. ???

You could create aNew variable with the printer model in it and set it to be searchable. You would then copy the relevant code from the search page and paste it into your brochure page as a drop down list.

Thanks Andy, a bit out of my league though at this stage. I am a relative novice, this is my first attempt at creating a web presence.

Have a read through the help file on how to create a user defined variable. You need to create the variable with a scope of product and section (2 tick boxes) then select which panel you want it to appear in and finaly tick the searchable box.

You can then fill in whatever printer make it is from the content window for each of your products. If you have mainly one type of printer in a section you can just fill in the details at the top of the section level and all the products below it will be filled in automatically for.

Next head to the search settings from the main menu and you can choose how you want your new variable to be displayed on the search page.

Upload your store and check the search page to see the results of your work. If you want to you
can add a fragment with a link to the search page wherever you want.

          Actinic for Dummies

Many thanks Andy, I am chipping away at it. It is a pity that there isn't more detailed documentation. I reckon that someone could do financially well if they wrote an "Actinic for Dummies"
