Restricted character set (name and address field)

I am using Actinic v10 software and have noticed problems arising from customers filling out the name and address fields using certain characters ie / [ ] and probably more. This problem manifests itself by causing problems at the PSP page whereby the customer receives a "scripting error" message and using "illegal characters".
Is there any way, or script I can run, at form filling (name and address) stage to restrict it to text and numbers only and no special characters?

Any help would be appreciated.
