    Hi Bruce

I noticed this from the download area "NB - Shared SSL Withdrawal. Due to changing banking regulations and subsequent pressure from the banks, Actinic is withdrawing the Shared SSL security option. This will not be available in the production release of v10.0.3."

Can i ask why? I use shared SSL for Google Checkout on one site. I know its not a big issue these days to have a dedicated IP and a site specific SSL but i dont see the point in removing it. Sure if people are using shared ssl for card capturing i can understand the reasons but not if its used solely for securing the checkout procedure (not card details).

Or have i miss understood the statement

    Cheers
    Darren

Shared SSL is able to be used for capturing card details, but is not PCI-DSS compliant, so unfortunately we are no longer allowed to offer it.

I understand that Bruce but its not the only thing its used for. We waited for nearly 3 years for Google Checkout and unless people go for a dedicated SSL cert they wont be able to use it?

Ok so no shared SSL anymore, so how does actinic hosting propose to secure customer accts or GC given actinic doesn't offer dedicated SSL?

This all seems a bit of a last minute decision to me and has not been properly thought about or looked into?

It seems that people automatically think that shared SSL is just about capturing card details. It is just one aspect it could be used for. A simple option would be to remove the card capturing option. I know it means people with a dedicated SSL would not have the option but we all know that this is not PCI compliant so get rid of it as form of accepting payments.

although i recal this was not an option sometime back, i cant remember who from Actinic said it could not be removed but someone did, however this to me is the most sensible and logical approach. If you cant capture card details then you cant fall foul of PCI DSS?

Darren, are you definitely using Actinic's Shared SSL service for Google Checkout? Only we tested it and it doesn't seem to work properly. It wasn't really intended for use with that, it's not a combination we set out to support AFAIK.

Gold hosting and above comes with SSL, but I will definitely raise that as an issue for Silver and Bronze customers.

I use a shared SSL for my cart so that the shipping info is passed to google when GC is used. Sorry Bruce im not using Actinics Shared SSL
on this site here http://www.kitesrus.co.uk/acatalog/index.html (although the GC button in the view basket does not work, you have to checkout to the address page 1st then click GC)

Just to clarify, it's Actinic's Shared SSL service, which you need a subscription for, that is being withdrawn. The use of SSL certificates on a merchant's site, shared or otherwise, is not changed at all.

Thanks for clarification Chris, might be an idea to change the wording on the download page as this is not quite how it can be taken

                        Hi,

Tried inserting the RealTimeStockDisplay layout in to an extended page and cannot get it to work as it said it would in V10.0.3

                        Any Ideas?

You also need to insert the Javascript Section Stock Query layout into the Head section of the page. The steps are described in full in the beta Advanced User Guide, http://downloads.actinic.com/advancedguide_10.0.3.doc. I have added a link to the beta download page.

                            Trial Server Upload problem!?

                            Hi Chaps

I have been using the trial hosting to check changes to our site before I upgrade our site.

I have just tried up loading and it comes up with the following error

"The Actinic scripts available on the host provider server are not compatible with the Actinic software version you are running. Contact your host provider for upgrade information

Click on the link below to visit the Actinic website for further details."
