Compressed upload works and then it doesn't

    Hello,

Wonder if anyone can help. Why would it be that Actinic V10 business would upload using compressed files fine (even watched the upload.zip being created and changing size/date each time it is renewed and then uncompressed). Then I try again another upload and it brings up the dreaded compressed upload is not supported message?

It really does not make sense. All the correct perl modules are installed and tested via troubleshooting server test tool. When you are attempting to upload 12,000 files it is just not funny anymore...

What test does Actinic do to determine if compressed upload is ok and why does it sometimes decide we are in the wrong lunar phase?

I've also seen this, where the message pops up during upload, you click cancel and it continues, so you are not alone.

        Hi Alex,
Ironically I read your thread this morning and thought *how bizarre* and then it happened to us twice today. Both with large sites (in excess of 10,000 pages). Halfway through compressed upload it errors, and switches back to standard upload.

Mine was a large site also, i was uploading on behalf of a client to test something, so i guess that means it is not site specific or hosting specific if 3 of us have seen it?

I also see this with 1and1 on occasion. I usually just accept it or if it's a large site just wait a while and try a bit later. I generally use quite large packet sizes on large sites so I wonder if the processing is restricted on shared servers for this at busy times.

My instance was on a 'daddy' dedicated server, so not shared server related for me personally.
