    New site markup validation errors

I’m finally upgrading my site from V8 to V10. My existing site is http://www.boardshorts.co.uk is doing really well with SEO and so I am really twitchy about launching the site, although there is a huge improvement on the look of the site I don’t want to jeopardise my google placement.

I am just working through the w3.org tools and I was surprised to see the results from the validator tool http://validator.w3.org/ I then assigned my test site http://www.hulabula.co.uk and got 63 errors and 20 warnings! Are these likely to have a detrimental effect on SEO or cross browser compatibility?

Just checked the http://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/ it's shocking.

I was a bit shocked but I know the validators can be a bit picky.

An Actinic site will never validate due to the special Actinic tags.
    Don't be concerned about it.

Think carefully though about launching a newly redesigned site just before Christmas, you don't want to upset anything at this time of year.

Out of interest how do the V8 & V10 sites compare for validation errors and warnings?

That should give you a clue as to how significant a problem it is, although everything Duncan says is true, there is little you can do about it.

The new site has 63 errors and 20 warnings.
        Old site just 3 errors.

The old site I designed myself and created the index page in dreamweaver to keep it external and as clean as possible.

The new site has been designed by web design company.

If the v8 site's index page is outside actinic then you arent comparing like for like. Maybe compare acatalog/index on both sites instead.

Don't forget index pages are less important nowadays as you want visitors to enter the site on the product page that they are interested in
