    Exporting

    Afternoon Guys,

Can anyone tell me if im able to export a single category? I have loads of different catergories on my site and i wanted to make some major changes to one of them which kinda means starting from scratch with it unless i can export just that category which would allow me to copy the existing info into a new CSV file.

    thanks

You would have to export the whole catalog and then strip it down to contain only the parts you wanted.

When you say category, do you mean categories that you can create in actinic to differentiate items or are you talking about departments, sections etc?

I'm refering to a section that holds products

see link above. i want to export just the beds section so i have all relevant info regarding images, meta info and product info.

        thanks

As said above, you'll have to export the entire catalog. However this creates a text file and it should be easy to separate out the chunk of code containing just the Section in question.

Search the export file for a line containing your Section Name. It should start with Section,"... Delete everything up to there (except the initial lines that begin Header:.... Look for the next line that starts Section,".. and delete that and until the end of file.

Import into Actinic on a spare system first to test it before trying it on your live system.

You can use this tool to export product details to csv and you can also select the sections that you want to export (by adding a user defined variable to the catalog and setting it to true on the sections you wish to export).

There are lots of export types, the one to use is catalog flat file export.

When you have made your changes you can import them into Actinic through the flat file export system.

There is a free trial for the product.
