    Linking products

    Hi there,

I am currently creating a minisite for our company using the v10 business edition of Actinic, it is my first attempt at building a site from scratch with the software so I'm still learning!

Basically we have 2 main products on the site, and each one has the same set of related accessories available with them (such as usb sticks, ethernet cables etc.)

Some of these accessories are going to be available for free when the customer buys the parent product, but we also want these accessories to be available as sperate products in their own right in an 'Accessories' section where the customer will have to pay for these extras.

Is there a simple way of doing this? Hope my description is clear!

You can create the options in the Accessory section as products and then add components to your main two products, then you can link the component to the accessory product and override prices etc there.

The help file (F1) has some good examples of how to do this, and also the computer products in the sample catalog are set up in this way.

    Regards,

After a bit of tinkering I think I have got it to work so thanks a lot for the help.

        One further question though, sorry!

One of the accessories we intend to sell on its own for £50, however if the customer buys 2 of the parent products we would like them to receive it for free. Is there a straightforward way to do this? Looked in help but nothing immediately jumped out as being a solution

You need the business version, if you have that, then have a read of the inbuilt help on 'discounts'.
