Import and Export V10 Enterprise

Hello,

We are using the V10.0.2 Enterprise version MS SQL. currently it will not import and export designs, or data, not even a snapshop, the design import issue was recently tagged after last upgrade as being a new 'feature' and in Actinics view this would not be needed by us!

The question is, can other versions of V10 actinic that don't use MS SQL databases be used to create a design and can this design be imported, despite being created using an Access database?

Also does anyone else use the same version we do, as cannot believe we are the only company having to cope with this.

This has become a deal breaker for us, if Actinic cannot offer a way to import and export data then it is useless

I haven't done it myself but according to Actinic, yes. You should be able to create a design snapshot in the Access version and import this into the Enterprise version.

We are on 10.0.3 Enterprise using MS SQL. You should be able to do everything that the Access version does. We have sucessfully imported designs, imported and exported snapshots, and imported / exported flat files.

When you say you can't do it, what happens? You get an error? You can't find the buttons?

As an Enterprise customer you should have Actinic Cover Support which I think is manatory for Enterprise. Give Actinic a call and they will be able to help you very quickly. I'm sure it is something you'll be able to solve because we have done those things you mention.

Hi Jez,

I think it's just the design snapshot that you can't export with Enterprise, you can export a full snapshot and import any kind of snapshot into Actinic Enterprise.

All the different flavours of Actinic V10 use the same method of storing data in the snapshot irrespective of the database used. This is a design feature to allow the transfer of designs from say Designer Version to Enterprise. The table layouts are the same in Access and SQL versions of the database.

There is a known problem importing any design snapshot from an earlier verion into V10.0.2, you just can't do it, other snapshots work fine.

You can import design snapshots created in access sites into SQL sites, the only restriction is exporting them from SQL sites.
