    Cross-site stock control?

This is probably a very silly question, but in a hypothetical situation where 2 sites sell items from the same set of stock, is there any way in which real time stock could be correctly maintained on both sites?

    eg stock = 100

    both sites A and B show stock = 100

    Site A sells 5

both sites show stock = 95

    site B sells 10

both sites show stock = 85

100 more are delivered into stock

somehow this is entered manually & both sites show stock = 185

As I say, probably a silly question but maybe someone has considered it.

You could create an Access database that links to one of the sites mdb file then link the stock of the other site to that database.
You would then need some sort of script to automate the uploading of both sites.

You're correct Darren it doesn't. The stock updates would have to the v9 way with regular uploads and downloads.

That is why I mentioned having to automate the uploading of the sites. I seem to remember mole end have something that will do that although it would be possible to write your own script with something like AutoIT.

            Previous post

            Dear Nick,

This is a previous post that I had about the Stock Control on multiple sites and linking, contains quote from Chris Barling about why it is difficult and therefore not allowed. Quite frustrated by this as I think it is locking out a percentage of the market who have smaller subsid sites, who could do with linking across them, as against those with larger sites. It sounds as if you are in the multiple smaller sites group who would benefit from it
