Customer Choice required

Hi all,
I would like to have on our customer choices something that would avoid customers buying a product without picking an option first.
What happen now is if they just click add to cart, they will be buying the first choice in our Customer Choice list.
Would be great having one choice as standard, and a message asking that they need to pick a choice (color as an example)
Is that possible?

I have an add-on "Choice Validation" that does this. Here are some notes from its ReadMe:

This patch adds the capability to optionally validate drop-down choices to ensure
that a selection other than the first is made. You don't need to make a "Please Select..>"
option in drop-down lists as it will be added automatically.

It also can be used on radio button choices. Here it sets all choices to unchecked and makes sure that
one is chosen before allowing the Add to Cart.

The error message for each invalid drop-down or radio button is user definable.

It also checks Date fields to ensure that the default e.g. "1st Jan 2000" date isn't used.
