exporting heirarchical file - choices permutations order muddled

    Hi,

    v10 business plus

My products have componants, attributes and choices.
The choices are in a specific size order.
When I export my catalog as an heirarchical file, and look at it, the choices and permutations are all muddled... they are in what looks like a random order.
So that when I import the heirarchical file all the choices on the drop down in the store are in this random order.
Does anyone know why this is so? and how do keep my choices in the correct order when I export them?

    Thanks

for anyone interested.. I have raised this issue with support.
Support have reproduced the same error on a default installation.. so the issue has been passed on to the developers for analysis.
I'll report back when I hear any more.

probably exporting based upon the internalID rather than the sortOrder.

Do you know how to make it export based on the sort order?

I don't think we have any influence of the export sort order, this is the bug. having said that, its only SQL, so it shouldn't be too difficult for Actinic to fix

            For anyone else that is affected by this.. this is what support have told me;

...as I thought it is a bug within the software.
Sadly there does not appear to be a workaround either. It was noted that this only occurs to options that have been pasted, oddly manually created options do not suffer from this and display correctly when imported.

I'm having this happen to me, did you have any joy sorting it out?

                No I'm afraid I didnt.

According to support its a bug without a workaround.

Wow... this is a nightmare :/ I've got 1000's of products that are mostly exporting the choices randomly. I would say this is a MAJOR bug, I'm surprised there doesn't seem to much about it on here.

I know... I was amazed it didnt seem to be encountered before as well. It certainly is a major problem, if you need to export and reimport your catalog and you have lots of choices..

I couldnt find a way to sort it out and had to manually rebuild the heirarchical file..

We experienced a similar issue when entering some new products, that were then copied and pasted.
We found the only way to make sure the components/attributes/choices etc were in the correct order in the hierarchic was to start with a clean sheet in the relevant sub-section, enter the first product that was to be subsequently copied and pasted precisely correct the first time and build it in the order you want it displayed; no moving or changing allowed once it was done.
After that, we found we could copy and paste [that set of products] until we were blue in the face without any hierarchic problems. We always compact the database before exporting btw.
Never had this issue before upgrading to V10.
                      Kind Regards

                        Hello

I am experiencing this problem on a version 9 site.

It took me a while to figure out what was going on, but it seems that any attributes and choices that have been copied and pasted within the catalogue, end up muddled up when exported to a hierarchical file.

Atrributes and choices that are created from scratch (i.e. not copied from elsewhere in the catalogue) are fine when exported.

This bug is a major nuisance to say the least.

Just wondering if a fix ever became available??

                        Thanks

This problem was resolved in v10.0.4. Unfortunately you would need to upgrade in order to get the fix - we are not able to port it back to older versions.
