Can I add a free product to the cart

When a cutsomer orders produyct A, can I add 2 of product B free of charge (this is already a prodcut which can be order sperately as well)?

If so how?

Create a product which is effectively two of the free item i.e. dual pack of blah blah and then add it as a compulsory component to the main product, that way they can only buy it when they buy the main product and when they do it will be automatically added.
