Summing No of Items in Shopping Cart / Checkout

Hi All

Does anyone know a way to put a total at the bottom of the cart to show the total number of items in the cart.

A couple of my sites take large numbers of items during each order so it would be useful if I could have a "Total Quantity" at the base of the cart somewhere.
