    Login to different URL

    Hi

I use Actinic V10 and have a site at www.gprsmodems.co.uk. For returning customer I use a login on the Index page which brings them to Acatalog when logged in. That is fine for people shopping except I have another scenario whereby I need to login from one URL and after login be at another URL. This is used by members when logged in to download tech files and pdf's.

    login at this url:

    http://www.gprsmodems.co.uk/acatalog...utions_45.html

and need the page to open after login at:

    http://www.gprsmodems.co.uk/acatalog/Members_Area_.html

I have had the login working successfully from this page, however it opens up at Acatalog and the customer has to drill down again to find the relevant section.

I have read threads relating to similar issues in earlier versions however there didnt seem to be a satisfactory solution.

Any help, or pointed in the right direction would be appreciated.

    Regards
    John A.

Actinic treats all logins the same, it won't differentiate between logins, they are all treated with a global rule. There is a thread in the KB which shows you how to serve up different content to different customer groups, so you could have a 'members' group and then one for 'plebs' or whatever you call the other people.

You could then add a link through to the members area on the page which shows when people have logged in which would only show for members, the plebs wouldn't see it. They would still have to click, but it will be presented to them immediately and no hunting around is needed.

I have prevented "unregistered" customers from entering "Tech support" as you advised. Just noticed that "tech support" only appears now when logged in on the main login page (acatalog), however the link is still present on the left under Product Sections". This is working in terms of allowing access to the material when logged in which is fine. I am trying to remove technical Support from the Product Section when not logged in and re-appear when logged in. I tried page 109 in advanced guide "hiding elements from retail customers and allowing registered users access". I have tried a few scenarios without success. Please send any suggestions you may have.

        Test login:

        username: sales@jandrew-elec.com' and pswd 14396

        Thanks

The link will remain in product sections as that is a global list and nothing will be removed from it unless you set it do so. Your easiest option might be to remove the section from the menu completely if that is viable, if not you're going to need to get technical and have your conditions around just the link to that section, easiest way to do that is to probably take it out of the list completely via a blockif and then add it back in manually yourself with the restriction around it so that only logged in customers see it.

It's one of those things unfortunately, it would take about an hour to write out instructions to do it, but about ten minutes to actually do. If you don't understand lists and blockifs, you might struggle to be honest.

I decided on a change of plan, when not logged in and a customer goes to tech support I scripted it to bring up the login page.
              Thanks
