    SSL Problem

    Hi,

Am currently trying to set up SSL on my site, but am stuggling.
Tried 1st to add just the checkout pages, which just hung as soon as you tried to access them. I am certain this was to do with the SSL server being on a seperate server, and needing a A 'Network File Path' (NFS) to the none secure site /acatalog directory. Am unfortunatley dealing with streamline.net so this may prove impossible looking at other peoples experience.

So, though I would try the whole site on SSL and see if that worked.
But when tring to publish I'm getting the error :

Actinic received a server error from the web server. The CGI scripts are not executing properly on the server. The error could be caused by several things. Check:
    - the 'Path to the Perl shell'
    - the 'CGI script extension'
    - the 'Path to CGI-BIN'
    - the 'CGI-BIN URL.
    - the amount of web space left on your server
    - if your server is configured to accept POSTs to CGI scripts

But have checked the permissions which are all fine, have uploaded a test perl script which executes fine, and proves the path to perl is fine, have also tested that I can post to Cgi scripts and that has worked fine.

Has anyone any ideas, here is the settings for the SSL when it was set for payments only :

Looking in the error log shows this :

[Thu Mar 17 14:22:46 2011] [error] [client 62.7.80.4] (2)No such file or directory: exec of '/home/default/chillylemon.ssl-01.com/user/htdocs/cgi-bin/ss000001.pl' failed, referer: https://chillylemon.ssl-01.com/

[Thu Mar 17 14:22:46 2011] [error] [client 62.7.80.4] Premature end of script headers: ss000001.pl, referer: https://chillylemon.ssl-01.com/

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks in advance,

    Paul.

You don't need SSL to run an actinic site, just get yourself a PSP and job done. You only really need SSL if you are using non PCI compliant payments methods, which is unadvisable as the regs came out about 3 years ago now telling you not to and fines are starting to be heard of.

      Hi Lee,

Thanks for the reply, am signed up with Actinic Payments, but when I try and publish the site without SSL I get a warning about sending Credit Card details over unsecured connections, and it being unadvisable. Did try the site without SSL and the checkout page where you input payment details is unsecured, which I thought would put customers off. Is there another way of handling this that I have missed??

      Thanks again!

I think you might have payment methods selected that you are not using, check in business settings > payment and security that you only the methods you wish to use, right click on any to delete them. I'm guessing you have credit card capturing selected possibly. Check that area first anyway, most likely to be in there.
