    How to set up?

I know this is going to be a really strange set up to want...but....

What I want to do is leave my currently up and running e-commerce site as it is (which uses another web e-commerce cart), but I want to process any internet orders received from that site via Actinic interface, so this will mean inputting any orders I receive manually. (along of course with any telephone taken orders)

My problem is this....How do I set Actinic up to send emails (orders despatched etc), when I do not want to upload the full website at this point.

Long term I will upload the full site and overwrite my existing site, but this will not be for some time, so I need a temporary fix.

Any advice would be gratefully received!

    Many thanks

If you upload actinic to a test directory then you should be able to send out all the emails without any problems.

      Hi olderscot

Do you mean run actinic in 'Test Mode' which will create test directories for everything ?

Yes, although Actinic simply uploads to
        [yourdomainname.com]/acatalog/test/acatalog/

Actinic uses a Perl script online for sending emails (e.g. mf000001.pl) and therefore having Actinic uploaded to the test area will ensure there is a suitable mail Perl script online for it to use.

          Thanks olderscot and fergusw

I presume I will of course have to upload the site? But I don't want google indexing anything ???

I have a robots.txt file to disallow some other pages on the site, but I know this is not foolproof - any other suggestions to stop google indexing the pages in the test directory ?

OR can I just delete the .html product pages from the directory once it has uploaded and leave the pearl scripts in the cgi folder (to run the email side of things) - would this create any problems ???

          Many thanks for any advice

Deleting the html pages and leaving the cgi-bin files should be fine.
